Living away from all of my family stinks, but we are lucky that we get a lot of visitors and seem to have a steady stream of friends and family occupying our guest room. I love nothing more than a house full of people, but I know they feel more welcome and comfortable when they have a designated space to stay that is well equipped with all the things to make their time away from their own home as comfortable as possible. Here are five things to consider when trying to prep a space in your home that will be designated for guests to stay.
- Phone Chargers– this is one item that I love to find when I stay somewhere. Maybe because it means I don’t have to dig mine out of my bag, or maybe because I only bring one charger and have three devices I usually charge (hello phone, ipad and watch…) or it could be because the kids or my husband forget a charger and inevitably want to use mine. Something as simple as a phone charger can make a big difference
- Stocked Shower– Stock up the shower caddy with your favorite products (or go the extra mile and stock it with items you know your guests like). We all know those little travel size bottles only go so far, so having a stash of products to use while away from home is very nice. Some of my favorites are shampoo, conditioner, body wash or soap, facewash, shaving cream, and lotion.
- Stocked Linen Cabinet– think towels, washcloths, sheets, pillowcases and of course extra blankets. This makes it easy for your guests to grab whatever they need, without having to ask you for things.
- Wifi Password– write the password and network name on a piece of cardstock and place it in a cheapie frame. Place it on a bedside table, or somewhere visible in the room so guests can easily get on the wifi without having to ask.
- Favorite food items– if you already know what your guests like, great- grab those special things. If not, ask if there is anything they’d like to have on hand. Think coffee creamers, special coffees or teas, drinks (beer, wine, seltzer water, milk etc), special snacks. I don’t think any guest would expect this, but it sure is a nice touch!
